LGBTQI Inclusive Education Launch Event

As Co-President of  the intergroup on LGBT Rights in the European Parliament, Terry takes part in an event organised by the LGBTI Intergroup & the intergroup on Children’s Rights in cooperation with IGLYO on LGBTQI Inclusive Education. The meeting will see the launch of the LGBTQI Inclusive Education Index and Report, evaluating what (if any) response Member States have when it comes to homophobic and transphobic bullying and violence in schools.

According to the latest Fundamental Rights Agency survey (2014), at least 68% of LGBT learners experienced homophobic or transphobic bullying, while more than 8 in 10 witnessed negative comments or conduct during their time at school because a someone was perceived to be LGBT.
